I just bought a new Sony PS3 Dual Shock 3 Controller-Urban Camo because I “dropped” my old controller one too many times. Usually my controller only lasts about 3 months because it gets “dropped” alot. Once I “dropped” my controller and it bounced off the tv, ricocheted off the wall, caromed off the DVD player and became lodged in between the wall and a piece of furniture.
The first thing to go on a “dropped” controller is the vibration disk which usually stops working after the 3rd or 4th “drop”. The plastic case cracks or even develops a hole after the 8th or 9th drop. Few controllers ever survive the 10th drop since most will lose one or more buttons or even a joystick at this point. One in a million make it through a baker’s dozen which qualifies as a genuine miracle. My most recent controller was on its last leg missing the vibration disks which I tore out after a particularly brutal “dropping” and even had the lower tips of both controller arms cracked open exposing dime sized holes in the brittle plastic.
Needless to say I have spent enough money replacing dropped PS3 equipment that I could have purchased a new 42 inch LED HD TV. So for this Christmas I am asking Santa for some “Joie de vivre” to help tame the gamer rage beast.
